Video conference with Hawaiian schools

Today in the year 7 and 8 Extension we had a video conference with 2 schools. One of them is Kea'au and the other is Nanakuli and they are both from Hawaii. We used google hangouts to talk to them. We all talked about our schools and our learning. One of the schools showed us a movie of there school.

Kea’au Elementary school is in Hawaii and they have 870 students there and their community are the fastest growing area’s in Hawaii. Their grades go from preschool to grade 5 and they have a population of 17,047. They mainly speak in Hawaiian.

The Hokulea Waka is going to come to Point England Beach on the 24th of March and we will be able to talk with the crew, the Manaiakalani schools will be there too. They are going all around the pacifica islands and then they will go all around the world after new Zealand . They are using traditional navigation methods as our ancestors.

The one thing that I thought was interesting was the lava that go into town and everyone had to relocated and they say that there is a fire goddess called Pele.
