Matariki

Matariki is a star cluster that rises during the freezing cold months of winter. Between the start of May and the beginning of June. There are 500 but you can only see seven which are known as the seven sisters.

The Maori used it to show what kind of harvest it will be like. Like if the stars are shining bright that means it will be a good crops to eat and if the stars are blurry and dim that means it will be cold and there won’t be enough
crops.

The Maori ancestors used them as well as other stars and signs. They navigate across the pacific Ocean to new Zealand. They also show the Maori new year.
